Full description

This full-day tour begins with a pick-up at 9:20 AM at the forecourt of the Reims-Centre train station (Tuesday, Thursday, or Saturday). When you arrive in the Champagne region, you’ll start with a sightseeing tour of Reims. The city of coronations, Reims, is also the city of Champagne, the most celebrated and festive of wines. On the way, hear about Reims, the city where the Kings of France were crowned, and arrive at the Veuve Clicquot Champagne Estate (visit and tasting fees included). Pay a visit to the magnificent Notre-Dame de Reims Cathedral. Explore inside the UNESCO-listed wonder on a guided tour and admire the 13th-century cathedral, with its striking Gothic architecture and beautiful stained glass windows. Enjoy a delicious lunch at your leisure in Reims. After that, take a scenic drive through the vineyards of Montagne de Reims, passing through the Grand Cru villages of Verzenay and Mailly, as your guide explains the Champagne-making process. Take a picture at the vineyards and hear about the importance of ‘terroir’ in cultivating grapes. You will then stop at a Champagne family estate and discover a different side of the prestigious Champagne industry and how Champagne is made. Finish this fantastic program with another tasting of 4 Champagne glasses (different ones). On return to Reims, your tour ends back at the train station at 5.45 PM.

Not cheap, but worth every penny. The guide, Raphael, was a fantastic source of knowledge both of the history of Reims and the cathedral, the Champagne region and wine making (gaming and rock music, too!). His easy-going style made the day flow (as well as the champagne, with tasters at all 3 houses visited, including vintage). Lovely meal at the medium-sized champagne house, with knowledgeable host. Rounded off with a visit to a small, single family house, with another knowledgeable host, as well as attendance from the enthusiastic owner himself. As a champagne lover (budget permitting!) this was a real treat, made as much by Raphael and the passionate people we encountered, as well as the scintillating golden ambrosia itself.

A great day out exploring some of the Reims City Centre as well as some wonderful champagne houses, including the well known and those more boutique/local paired with a delicious lunch. A wonderful experience and taste of Reims and the Champagne area. Highly recommend for anyone - solo travellers, couples or small groups.

This was an excellent tour. Ann Marie was passionate and engaging responding to all of our individual needs as well as those of the group. The chosen vineyards were diverse and each had a unique story. This combined with the city tour and Cathedral tour of Reims was a great balance. Thank you.
