See the mighty medieval castles – the area has the highest density of such buildings in the world. Marvel at the stunningly beautiful "Lorelei-Felsen," or Siren's Rocks, and enjoy fantastic views over the valley from the Niederwald monument. In the summer you can ride on the Assmannshausen cable car down into the valley (optional), have lunch in a marvelous restaurant on the banks of the Rhine (included), and then take a wonderful Panorama boat trip to St. Goarshausen, past the famous Loreley. Try fine wines on location in a small tavern and or just lose yourself in the picturesque little town of Rüdesheim. Please note that the tour will only stop at Rüdesheim if time allows. In winter time it may be possible that steamers do not operate in case of bad weather or water co...

Trip was excellent but weather was poor better to go on a sunny clear day. Cable car would have been good but as I say weather was bad

  • Frankfurt: Day Trip to Eltz Castle

Visit the perfectly-preserved and beautifully-located castle, which has been inhabited by the same family since its construction. Admire the unparalleled architecture and the original furnishing dating back over 8 centuries. Tour rooms and halls that contain hundreds of years' worth of cultural history. Admire the festive knight's hall, the medieval kitchen, exquisite furniture, wall hangings and paintings as well as fascinating weaponry and armor. The treasury in the cellar vaults houses a precious art collection with over 500 exceptional pieces. Not only was the castle exciting and informative, but our driver Ralph was very nice and relayed a lot of information about the areas through which we were driving.

What people are saying about Rhineland-Palatinate

Read the description carefully. I did this trip in off season when the tour boats in the Middle Rhine do not run so using a tour company insured that I had a spot on one of the few boats that were running. The bus transport meant that I could view everything, which from a train is not possible due to tunnels and speed. Yes, you can do it more cheaply, yes there is some repetition up and down the road, but the scenery made it worth it. Our guide Michael was super friendly and told lots of bad jokes about his wife (who wasn’t there to defend herself) but you know the type, just roll with it and you’ll have some fun. I don’t drink alcohol so the wine tasting was lost on me but others seemed to enjoy it.

A great day, as described. Lunch was good, wine tasting brief & no pressure to purchase. The boat cruise was lovely and our guide was informative and entertaining.

I had an amazing tour and the guides were really wonderful and very funny! I recommend a small/private tour then you get full attention and enjoy more!

It was a nice and scenic boat cruise with lunch and wine tasting included. The guide was friendly and informative. I enjoyed the day trip.

Long drive but worth the trip to see the most scenic part of the Rhine River.
