From Rhodes City: Boat Day Trip to Lindos

1. From Rhodes City: Boat Day Trip to Lindos

On this tour, you will visit the stunningly beautiful village of Lindos by boat. On the way back, the boat will make stops at Anthony Quinn's Bay for photos and both Tsambika's and Lindos's emerald bays so you can relax and go for a swim. The boat departs at 8:50 AM from Mandraki port and returns at approximately 5:30 PM. Lindos is a magnificent acropolis on an imposing rock. On the top of the rock stands a centuries-old acropolis, proudly overlooking the archipelagos. The acropolis bears silent witness to Lindos’ glorious past, a major naval power of ancient times which reputedly had a population of 17,000. The view of Lindos village, with its cubic houses sprawling down the hillside under the acropolis, is one of the most photographed scenes in Greece. The whitewashed labyrinth of little alleyways was deliberately designed to confuse pirates, today this layout makes wandering around the town a real adventure. According to tradition the temple of Athena was founded by Danaus, who came to the island with his 50 daughters to escape the rage of the goddess Hera. Follow the same ancient path that the ancient Rhodians took. When you reach the acropolis you will see a 280 BC relief of a ancient Greek warship carved into the rock, an indication of the naval power of ancient Rhodes.

Easy Hiking Tour around Ancient Lindos

9. Easy Hiking Tour around Ancient Lindos

The tour starts with pick-up from your location and driving you to Vlicha, a seaside village located next to Lindos, on the east coast of Rhodes. At the start of the trail, following mainly dirt roads, you leave behind you the buzz of the busy road, and move towards the west. Soon enough you walk under mature pine trees, whose existence is clearly surprising on this dry rocky land around Lindos. You then follow a trail that passes on the foothill of vertical limestone slope and afterward visit an impressive cave and admire the remains of agricultural life – somehow forgotten here nowadays. Finally, the hike reaches its highest point and is time for some fantastic pictures of “Navarone Bay” with its azure colored water, or even some meditation on how beautiful this endless sea is. After some walking downhill, you will experience the first glimpse of the hill where the Acropolis of Lindos proudly stands. No words are enough to describe its beauty, so you will have the chance to go closer, roaming in the narrow streets of the whitewashed village of Lindos. Some free time will be given for visiting the archeological site. The last part of the hike takes you back to Vlycha following an alternative route that hides one precious secret gem. Then the bus will take you back to your hotel.
