Full description

Hike to the top of Akramitis on a guided day trip on Rhodes. Admire the views of the western coast of the island on an off-the-beaten-track hiking trail.

Start with a pick-up from your hotel, and begin your hike by ascending green slopes under cypress trees overlooking the bay of Apollakia. Soon the hiking trail becomes more demanding as you start to clamber over the rocks that make up your path. Wherever you look there are amazing photo opportunities/

After the most strenuous stint, you find yourself surrounded by colourful shrubs. This meadow-like area leads you to your first stop of the day, the tiny old chapel of St John. Here you have a welcome snack enjoying one of the pies Greece is famous for and then it’s onwards and upwards to the top.

Just before you arrive, climb over rocks for a short time and once you reach the summit you will be glad you did. From the top of the mountain, you get to see both sides of Rhodes, the nearby islands, the lake in Apollakia, Attaviros (the highest mountain on Rhodes), and inland Rhodes.

Your guide will make sure everyone walks at a comfortable pace. In Spring, pretty flowers, fragrant herbs, and rare Rhodian Orchids line the way. You will follow a different route on the way down, one that takes you through a forest of tall pine trees.

Nice hike. At the beginning it was a piece of relatively steep up over a narrow path. Then the hike was very relaxed - after a short break with a snack and drink - continued to the summit. From there you have a wonderful view of the west coast and the interior of the island. The way back took another path through a forest back to the starting point. Sturdy shoes are helpful as some passages were rocky. But otherwise also feasible for the inexperienced, as long as you are sure-footed and reasonably fit. The transport was problem-free. The guides were super friendly and told us something or made some small talk with us all day long. Recommended excursion!

A good hike with tracks through forest and rough ground. Can be done in a pair of walking runners. They supply food and water but I would recommend bring a litre of water yourself. We had a great view of islands and coastline and we could see Turkey in the distance. A leisurely 5 hr walk. We saw mountain deer which was a bonus. An excellent day out in nature with a bit of exercise

Actually, I originally wanted to go to the Attavyros, but it didn't work out for various reasons. So I decided to do this tour and I can only warmly recommend it. We were a group of three Danes, one German and two Greek guides. The hike is definitely suitable for anyone who is reasonably fit. Only the first third is actually strenuous. The Nautr, on the other hand, is always a feast for the eyes and in good weather, you will be rewarded with a wonderful view on the summit. The two guides really did their job and I had a lot of fun. Not only with regard to the hike, but also during the conversations with the two of them (fluent English was not a problem for either of them). I would definitely recommend the tour to other people who want to do more than just lie on the beach. Note: Since you have to move carefully on the summit, at least sneakers (no sandals) are appropriate ;-)
