Had a fantastic time with Giovanni. There had been a wee bit of trepidation that we would be the only ones on the tour and that it may have been a bit awkward. We were the only ones, but in the end that made for an even better experience. Both Gioavanni and his colleague (shocking I can't remember your name :( ) were really fun and had some great stories and explanations about the history of food, coffee, gelato and tirimasu. I have been going to Rome for years and thought I was fairly clued up, but I learnt a lot. Of course, the proof of the pudding was in the eating, so it was great to see this matched with the flavours of the granita, espresso, gelato and tirimasu that we got to taste. Will definitely be booking up again when we return.

This tour was a great way to start off our visit to Rome! The espresso and food were delicious and the tour guide was extremely knowledgeable about not only the tasting experience, but in offering us helpful tidbits about the city. She taught us how to order espresso (a process I didn't realize would be so different from the U.S.!); that there were 2500 fountains all around Rome that offered free, clean drinking water; and relayed interesting cultural backstory about the statues and piazzas we passed. This guidance helped make our experience throughout the week so much smoother and more pleasant than it would have been. We ended up getting to try espresso prepared three different ways, two kinds of gelato, and a tiramisu. Our guide was so accommodating: The tiramisu place had sold out of it by the time we got there and she quickly ordered us tiramisu-espresso (bonus!) and booked us at another shop that made excellent tiramisu as well. Friendly, exciting, tasty way to start the week!

The grenita was amazing. The gelato (to die for). The espresso blew our minds (we went nack gor another one the next day) and the tiramisu was the piece de resistance. Thank you for a wonderful, informative & delicious 2 1/2 hours. Liz, Bruce & Blair
