  • From Hanoi: 3-Day Sapa Trekking and Bus Tour

    1. From Hanoi: 3-Day Sapa Trekking and Bus Tour

Day 1: Get picked up from the meeting point between 6:45 and 7:00 AM. The bus will stop for a couple breaks before arriving in Sapa at 12:30 PM. Once there, you will meet some local ethnic minority community members from the H’mong, Dzao and Tay tribes, in their colorful traditional costumes. Enjoy a Vietnamese lunch and check in to your hotel afterwards. At around 2 PM, continue your tour with a drive to Cat Cat village, home to the Black H’mong ethnic minority and located at the foot of Mount Fansipan (the highest mountain in Vietnam). Your local guide will introduce you to local daily life and you will trek down to the valley. The two-hour trek covers about 4 km (2.3 miles). In the afternoon, you will be transferred back to Sapa for dinner by 5:00 PM. Enjoy some leisure time afterward. Day 2: After breakfast, take a 5 km trek along rice terraces to...

Overall, Sa Pa is a beautiful place and a must visit destination. However, the advertising for this experience is a little bit misleading. We were not given an itinerary, instead we had to rely on the minimal instructions from the various staff we encountered. These instructions were occasionally confusing and left us guessing where we were meant to be for dinner or lunch and also where and when we should meet any transport. For a ’3 day trekking tour’, only 1 of the days was an actual trek. The Cat Cat village looks surprisingly like a movie set and after asking some questions we found out that no local villagers actually live there (this was still a great photo opportunity; just not authentic). The quality of the guides was inconsistent, one day the lady was helpful then the next day the lady was clearly in a rush to get the trek finished. Also prepare yourself for pestering “village women and children” who will follow you the entire way trying to sell things.

Beautiful area where you will not get bored and photographed. Very varied walks to beautiful villages. Villagers walk along with the long walk to the rice fields to help you on the sometimes slippery journey. Halfway they say goodbye with the expectation that you will buy something from them. The guides were very friendly and told a lot about the area. Spoke English well.

A great trekking experience to discover the natural environment of Sapa such as the Love and Silver waterfall. A tranquilizing trekking experience to witness the local village with their beautiful farming activities.

Our tour guide Me, was excellent. Spoke very good English and was very knowledgeable about the area. Would recommend to all, however some fitness is required.
