    Visit Saint-Émilion on a half-day tour from Bordeaux, and explore the vineyards and wines of the region. Meet your guide at Olala Bordeaux wine shop (located 2 rue Mably in Bordeaux center), and relax on the drive to Saint-Émilion.     Visit of two wineries and st emilion village. The guide was ok, but not very informative compared to the Medoc tour with Ophorus. Also, last minute my pickup time was changed from 13.45 to 13.20 and then the guide was still late. Very chaotic.

    The wine region of Libournais encompasses much of what is referred to as the Right Bank. Named after its historical capital, the expression Right Bank typically refers to wines from the Pomerol and St-Emilion areas of the Libournais. There are several villages around the region that share the Saint-Émilion name, such as Montagne-Saint-Émilion and St-Georges-Saint-Émilion that are named the satellite appellations. The area is bordered to the west by Pomerol. Merlot is the dominant grape in this area, followed by Cabernet Franc and a very small quantity of Malbec that is tending to disappear. The climate and damper, cool soils of the area makes it difficult for Cabernet Sauvignon grapes to fully ripen and as such is less often used.     Fantastic tour with a great guide that took us to 3 different spots for a tasting. The tastings were varied to give a great overview of not only the St. Emillion varieties, but also wines from other parts of the Bordeaux region. Definitely worth the price for all the wine and having a driver take the stress out of driving and finding each place.
