Attend a Christmas concert of music by Mozart, Haydn, Bach, and other legendary composers at the historic Hohensalzburg Fortress, perched high above Salzburg. Taking place in the most magnificent room in the city - the Golden Hall in the 900 year-old Fortress Hohensalzburg - the "Mozart - Strauss Orchestra Concerts" are unique to Salzburg. The Mozart Chamber Orchestra of Salzburg is a highly professional and internationally sought-after chamber orchestra and plays in a line-up which regularly shifts in size. Deeply steeped in tradition, it predominantly performs the musical treasures of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Johann Strauss.

  • Free ascent to the fortress is possible on the funicular 30 minutes before dinner. Take the funicular from Festungsbahn
  • The Golden Concert Hall is not accessible for impaired mobility. There is no elevator.
  • The restaurant only accepts payment by credit card (Visa, Mastercard, Diners, CUP, JCB)

A great venue with spectacular views from our table across to the nearby mountains. The food was really nice and the portion sizes just right. The lunch sitting was a relaxed 2 hours allowing a bottle of wine to be enjoyed without hast. The table service was OK, perhaps they were understaffed.

A nice meal in a restaurant that was not overcrowded and with beautiful views from the window by our table. The meal was well presented and unhurried. The service staff were possibly short staffed as service was strangely out of keeping with the event. Our bottle of white wine was left by a radiator without comment while the waitress addressed another table. She returned around 10 minutes later and seemed surprised that we had moved the wine and even opened it! The concert was fine for the occasion and an undemanding audience

We had an issue not being marked as Gold even though our tickets and the online app both showed this. Once rectified, the meal was OK and would have been worse expect the view and ambiance made up for it. The concert performance was excellent and my music friends said of very high quality! Very enjoyable but would have been even better during the meal (which, once in the restaurant, was obvious could not be done).
