From Punta Cana: Samana Day Trip

1. From Punta Cana: Samana Day Trip

Samaná is a peninsula located on the northeast coast of the Dominican Republic. Full of incredible landscapes and pure nature, it is a member of the World's Most Beautiful Bays Club of UNESCO as well as having been classified as a World Eco-Tourism Paradise. Each year between the months of February and March over 3,500 humpback whales mate in the warm coastal waters just off of the coast of the peninsula. Your tour begins with a boat trip from Miches to the Bay of Samaná, accompanied by a beautiful view. After arriving to your location, you will embark on a horseback trek to the majestic 50-meter high Lemon waterfall, which contains a beautiful natural pool below and is surrounded by lush tropical forest. Following your waterfall tour, you will head on a city tour atop a safari truck through the city of Samaná. Discovered by the navigator Christopher Columbus in 1493, this was the point in which the first hostile meeting between Europeans and natives occurred. Following your city tour, you will sit down for a Dominican buffet lunch in a field restaurant, where you can indulge in a tasting of tropical fruits harvested in the area. After lunch, you will be taken in the safari truck back to the dock, after which you will head to Cayo Levantado or "Bacardi Island". After arriving at this 1-kilometer long island, you can enjoy some refreshing free time on its beautiful beaches complete with clear turquoise water. After this free time, you will be ferried back to the mainland before being dropped off back at your accommodation.

2. From Punta Cana: Samaná, Cayo Levantado & El Limón Waterfall

Discover the Eastern Coastal Plain of the Dominican Republic on a guided day trip from Punta Cana, with hotel transfers included. Take a boat to Samana on your way to a ranch. Enjoy horseback riding, visit the Limón waterfalls, savor a Dominican lunch, and enjoy the sun at Cayo Levantado island. Depart from the different hotel zones in modern and comfortable buses. Board the boat at the Las Cañitas Pier, to head to Samana. There, the Safari-type Truck awaits us to make the tour of the Town, and continue through the Campos, until we reach the Rancho. Once at the Ranch, we ride a horse for about 40 minutes one way to visit La Cascada Limón. This waterfall is one of the most important falls in the Antilles and the Caribbean, both for the amount of water it has, as well as for its abrupt drop of 67 meters high. After about 40 minutes at the Cascada, we return to the Ranch and go to the Restaurant for the Typical Dominican Lunch. Finished at lunch, We go to Cayo Levantado or Isla Bacardí, to enjoy its white sands and crystal clear waters or simply sunbathe under its coconut trees. There you can also take a souvenir of the typical crafts of the area. After 1 hour and 30 minutes, we headed to Las Cañitas.

What people are saying about Samaná Province

They told us they would pick us up at 6:30 but at 6 they told us they would come an hour later. The driver was going crazy. When we arrived at the port they put us in another boat next to another excursion. During the journey there is only hot cola rum. Samana is beautiful and the guide that touched us was great. Each horse goes with a guide and it is optional to tip it, in the group it was given between 5 and 10 dollars. We ate at the same ranch where they teach you typical things there and although the food was good, the cleanliness was not their forte, better not to think about it or bring a snack. Bacardi Island is very pretty and quiet but we were only 45 min. We liked the tour usually but it is very tired and I would not recommend it for children.

A sweet experience with a bittersweet finish

Punctual, minibus, boat, buffet, horse ride, horse guide, bath in the waterfall, all great, ... until the logistic moment, poorly planned for the return of customers to hotels..meter at 30-35 people in a minibus and having to go to 10-13 hotels one by one ... (even entering hotels where no customer is staying ...), is to end an excellent day in a bittersweet way. Please plan your return better, placing customers who go to the same complex on the same minibuses and not separating them into several ... the entry of 10-13 complexes to 6-7 complexes would be minimized.

Sehr empfehlenswert, gut organisiert

We had an amazing time on this excursion! Paolo, Daniel and the rest of the crew made sure everyone was having a great time on the Catamaran! The whole day was lot of fun, and we made some of our best memories in Punta Cana on this tour.

It's worth it! Definitely do!

I really liked this tour, the landscape is incredibly beautiful, the beaches are untouched and the coconut trees reach down to the sea. Just like you imagine a picture book beach.
