Planning Your Visit

  • How many days to spend on Sharjah?

Count on three days in Sharjah to enjoy its attractions. Add one or two more if you plan to take a day-trip to Dubai or decide to set out on an excursion into the desert.

  • Getting around

There is a public bus system in Sharjah, along with buses that connect it with other locations in the UAE (Dubai Airport is 15 minutes from central Sharjah). When traveling by taxi, it's recommended to use authorized metered taxis. If you do go for an unmetered taxi, negotiate the price beforehand.

  • Where to stay in Sharjah

You'll find the majority of accommodations in the city's central business district, stretching from Al Sharq to Al Majaz, and along the beaches of al Khan in the al Khaledia suburb.

  • Islamic traditions in Sharjah

Sharjah is the most conservative of the seven emirates, and it's expected that both men and women follow an equally conventional dress code in public. If you're looking for a night on the town with a cocktail or two, then you'll have to head to Dubai, as Sharjah is completely 'dry.'

Dilbar, the tour leader, came in good time to pick us up at the agreed location and he was very friendly and the humor was as bad as himself, so the trip started promisingly. The traffic in Dubai is not for the faint of heart, but although Dilbar joked he was driving for the first time, he has reportedly been doing a desert safari for 10 years now. Before the dunes there was a small stop to put the tire pressures to suit the sand and then we set off on a roller coaster ride across the dunes and the going was quite. We stopped on a high dune and then there was plenty of time to take pictures and our guide was quite a photographer too. As the sun approached the horizon, we headed towards the eatery, which offered a variety of edible and a handful of impressive performances including dancing and fire. I guess Camel could have ridden for a while, but I didn't try it myself. Eventually we got the ride back to the agreed location and the very successful trip was on a sledge.

Superb day! Pick up at the hotel by our pilot Ali who was able to make us discover the dunes of the desert of Dubai! Take care with us from start to finish! A great meal in the evening at the camp to end the day well after a great entertainment in the dunes !! Our pilot was great on all counts! I highly recommend !!!

We had an amazing experience on our desert safari. Our guide Ali was excellent in all aspects, very professional and very accommodating.

Abdul made the trip even more memorable than the trip itself. Thank you!

Great experience with a very experienced and helpful guide.
