Retrace the history of Singapore in the company of an expert guide and learn about the origins of the Lion City from its humble beginnings. Meet your guide at Raffles Place MRT Station or, your referred pick-up location 30 minutes before start time (when pick-up & drop-off option is selected). Then, set out on a walk along the Singapore River to discover how the city developed from a small fishing village to a busy trading port of the British Empire. Learn about how the city’s history is tied to the importance of the river, and how it was once lined with fishing boats and spice sellers. Continue the tour onto Fullerton Hotel, the city's newly minted National Monument, and admire the grand architecture of the building. Next, wander through the Civic District, bursting with historical, architectural, and cultural heritage, and where modern Singapore was born. Visit the National Gallery, the city’s newest and largest museum of Singapore and Southeast Asian art and afterwards stroll along the Marina Bay Esplanade before finally visiting the mythical Merlion, the city’s national icon.

We had interesting walk with Jamie on the afternoon of October 16th 2022. Jamie knows the topic well and made the walk lively and fun. We also had conversations about contemporary Singapore which were equally enlightening. We really enjoyed the walk and interactions with Jamie.

Our guide (her name was Fun) was, a whole lot of fun. But very knowledgeable about Singapore too. We sampled some Singaporean Hawker food. Yum. Visited a sky garden in a recently constructed city tower building. Went to a Buddhist temple, and plenty more sites. You got the impression that our guide was thinking about what we might be interested in, and tailored the conversation to suit. We now know much more about Singaporean history, but it was light and engaging. It was a small group on the tour and very personalised. We recommend the tour and our guide. A really enjoyable way to spend an afternoon in Singas. Actually, we looked at the clock and realised that we’d gone over the 3 hour mark by another 30 minutes. So we must have been enjoying ourselves! Thank you Fun (our guide)

It is a great tour! You get to learn a lot about Singapore and see some “hidden gems” of Singapore as well. I would recommend to anyone who is looking to learn more about the country. We had plenty of time to take pictures, ask questions, and look around - not always a given on tours, but this tour was perfect.
