Get Your Guide website, where I booked the tour with Greenwalk did not have an accurate description of the tour: which included a 2 hour hike up the mountain to the Pena Palace on uneven terrain, rock steps, and steep inclines and a 1 hour walk down the mountain. It was a great tour and João was very knowledgeable, but give more information beforehand of how strenuous it will be.

Fantastic hike around Sintra's highlights

Great experience through the history, nature and many marvels of Sintra. We really enjoyed the experience and highly recommend it. However I think the activity should be clearer that this is a hike and not a gentle walk. It was no problem for us but the website should specify that closed walking shoes and appropriate gears as well as minimum level of fitness is required. Some of the slopes are really steep on the way up and down. It makes the experience truly unique to hike up but one should be aware what he's signing up for. Also the whole hike took us 4.5 hours but we came back very happy with fantastic memories and stunning pictures. We felt the cost of the activity is nonetheless too high for what it is. This is hiking activity with a knowledgeable guide but it doesn't require any additional equipment and the tickets to visit the castle and palace are not included- which is an additional 14€ per adult... We got equipped with a small bottle if water and cereal bars but still...

Very knowledgable guide. Patient with our small group as we took our time on some of the route. 5 star review. Quite a bit of walking and paths a little slippery in the rain, but we always felt safe. Lots to see and really helpful tips on missing long queues at Pena Palace. If your are considering this trip, but are not sure, then take my advice and go ahead and book it as you won’t be disappointed.
