From Ouranoupolis: Cruise to Mount Athos Monasteries

1. From Ouranoupolis: Cruise to Mount Athos Monasteries

Our cruise will start from Ouranoupolis, also known as The Gate to Mount Athos, as it is the last settlement before the border between the Monastic State and the rest of the world. During our journey you will observe 8 of 20 ancient monasteries of Mount Athos and will discover the history of this secluded place, accessed from the sea and allowed to men only, for more than 1000 years. Keep your camera on, as you might have a chance to take a picture of the dolphins swimming alongside the boat, or even a rare opportunity to see a Mediterranean Monk Seal, one of the rarest marine mammals in the world.

2. From Sithonia: Private 4x4 Off-Road Safari in Halkidiki

Get an authentic taste of an off-road adventure during this private 4x4 SUV tour from Sithonia to Nikiti, Vourvourou, Parthenonas, and other spots that can’t be accessed via normal rental cars. Get an inside look at some of the most amazing places of Halkidiki that only the locals know. The adventure starts in the morning in front of your hotel. Meet your private local tour guide, get a pre-trip introduction to the tour, then set out for the first stop on the itinerary, the old village of Nikiti. At Nikiti, find one of the oldest temples in the area and learn the history of the area while tasting local products from farmers. Afterward, see the east coast of Sithonia at the village of Vourvourou and admire the view of the Athos Peninsula. Then, venture off-road to a prehistoric place 725-meters high at the ancient tree of Itamos. From there, maneuver up to the highest point of Sithonia at 1,000-meters high. Reach the perfect spot to see all three peninsulas at the same time along with some north Aegean Islands. Next, follow an uncharted path through a pine forest to the west side of Sithonia and see the traditional village of Parthenonas. Climb down to the west coast and reach the last stop of the tour, a Greek family tavern in front of the sea. Sit down and enjoy a local lunch (costs not included), then journey back to your hotel by traveling along the west coastline.

My first booking on getyourgide, everything went well. The trip was fantastic, absolutely worth the money! Make sure to take pictures on the first half of the trip, as on the way back they go rather far from the coast. Absolutely recommended!

The three hour boat ride around the monasteries of Mount Athos is perfectly timed, no longer and no shorter. The staff is nice and helpful. The sea is magnificent and the monasteries offer beautiful views.

A wonderful tour that we definitely recommend. Real off-road tour, great views and lots of interesting information. Special thanks to our guide Armin, that was a great day, thank you!

Apart from the fact that the car was 35 minutes late for us at the hotel, everything was great.

Superb ride. Return may be a bit long. I recommend
