This was an enjoyable way to spend an hour, watching the horses do fairly repetitive gentle exercises around the ring. We were in the upper tier so had to stand throughout to see over the balustrade but it was nice to say we have seen the Lippizaners whilst in Vienna. Photos and videos are not allowed during the exercising but are allowed of the ring before and after.

The training is a great experience if you want to see the horses in the winter school but are unable to visit a performance. The horses are training though, which means they are walking and trotting, there are no jumps!! It is all very sedate, however the horses are beautiful and to see them with their riders is spectacular. It can be quite uncomfortable sitting or standing for the whole hour though. Our seats were on the 2nd floor and it is a good climb up a spiral staircase to get there!!! Would recommend this experience if you are interested in the riding school, but the stable tour was better. Or get to a performance if it's available!

One does not want to be on the top level. We were told not to film or take photos but people did. Woman next to me was very distracting - had her phone on constantly filming and photographing. I quietly reminded her not to but she continued through out the hour. Does no one monitor this?
