Dublin: Guided Sights and Pints Tour

7. Dublin: Guided Sights and Pints Tour

Following Irish Independence, a few men sat down and thought about what they would do with Dublin. Following much intense discussion and with the preservation of the British and Irish cultures in mind, it was born into the city it is today. Since then, Dublin has become a symbol of reconciling Ireland's British past with its Irish future. The British Trinity College (with its Protestant legacy) has produced Oscar Wilde and Jonathan Swift, and Dublin's pubs have produced writers from the Irish tradition, such as Patrick Kavanagh and Brendan Behan. This tour is, therefore, a tribute to Dublin's dual personality, and the pub door will be the boundary between the two worlds. Get comfortable in a few warm pubs throughout the tour where you will discuss important aspects of history, including Irish origins, the Irish language, and the Celtic Tiger. With this in mind, you will pop into a great pub every 20-40 minutes. Besides the history lessons, you'll learn about beer and the Irish pub, and will also partake in/witness an activity that the Irish are renowned for, conversation.

Nearly All of Dublin in 5 Hours

8. Nearly All of Dublin in 5 Hours

Five hours will fly by quickly as you see all the city's most important sights. There is also the option to add a guided tour of the Old Library of Trinity College, where the Book of Kells is housed. (Note that if this option is selection, the National Museum of History and Archaeology will be substituted out.) Trinity’s Long Room library, one of the world’s most beautiful libraries, houses 200,000 of Ireland’s most ancient texts. Admire the "Proclamition of the Irish Republic," one of the most important texts in Irish history. The Long Room also features the Brian Boru Harp, Ireland’s oldest surviving harp and the model for the insignia of Ireland.  On Mondays, the National Museum of History and Archaeology is closed. Please note that there is an entrance fee for those who opt for the Book of Kells (adults and children). Please note, as part of ongoing conservation and preservation plans for the Old Library, the Book of Kells will be removed from public display from November 2019 to early March 2020. However, a full color replica of the Book of Kells will be available to view in the Trinity’s Long Room library.

Amazing team of drivers!! Funny, informative, caring and helpful. I am visually impaired and all the drivers we met in the three days with this company were supportive and understanding, giving me extra time to go upstairs and to come down the stairs so that I could enjoy the fresh air of my home town while my partner enjoyed the views. Outstanding and would highly recommend to anyone travelling with a disability. Thank you especially to Martin and Greg.

This was one of my FAV tours! Collin was amazing and shared a lot of interesting facts about Ireland (and Dublin). I love tours which involve physical activity, so this tour was great for me. We were able to bike around the city in Dublin and see all the places we discussed during the tour!!

The driver was fantastic. His commentary was so interesting and kept our attention for the whole tour

Excellent tour, and great stories told by the full-of-life guide Mark!

Laura is a great guide, seeing the city by bike is something else1
