Stockholm: 1-Day Summer Nature Hike
- Small group
- Duration: 6 hours
This tour is ideal for those visiting Stockholm for a weekend who want to a peaceful Swedish forest for the day. Meet at Ystadsvägen 18 and travel from there by car to the forest entry point where the tour will start. Begin your hike through the incredible natural scenery. Feel the wonderful fresh air and take in the incredible views as your guide teaches you about the local wildlife. Stop for a long lunch break and picnic by the lake. Here, take the opportunity to relax, swim in a lake, and dry off next to the fire where food and coffee are being prepared for you. After this energizing pause, put your shoes back on, and continue the hike. Return to the start point by the end of the afternoon.
Make your way to the meeting point and take a short 15-minute drive to a nature reserve in the Swedish wilderness. Upon arrival, put on your wooly hat and begin your adventure into the pristine snow. On the way, learn about plants, Scandinavian animals, and natural scenery. Avoid the paths as much as possible so you will get an appreciation for the depth of the forest and its secret spots. Take a break at around noon and build a fire to warm up. Cook lunch and enjoy a nice hot cup of coffee or tea cooked on the open flames. In the Swedish winter, it won't be long before the sun sets on the horizon, so torch lamps will be needed for the last part of the hike. The afternoon is usually the best time to spot animals. If the temperature allows, walk on one of the frozen lakes on your way out of the nature reserve, before returning to the city full of memories.
Day 1: You will depart from the office in the south of Stockholm at 9:00AM, at which point you will drive for 1 hour to a forest not far from a small town called Gnesta. Once there and after a check-up on your backpack, you will start the hike by following a path for about an hour, the perfect amount of time to make sure that your gear is well adjusted. At that point you will begin the real adventure and walk off the beaten track, which means no paths and no signs of human activity. This is the perfect setting if you want to really feel the wilderness, and you will then have lunch at around noon in this magical environment. In the evening you will set your camp next to a lake in which you will be welcome to swim. You will then build a fire and cook a delicious meal on it, prepared by your skilled guide (with your help). Day 2: From 7...
