Full description

Jump back to the 10th century and experience the fabled Viking era as if you were really there. Through hourly tours, conducted in either English or Swedish, get a real impression of what life was like for the Vikings — from bloody battles and vicious plundering, to idyllic farm life and a complex system of religious belief.  You’ll even come face to face with a model of life-sized Viking, created using DNA recovered from centuries-old remains, along with countless other artifacts and impressive reconstructions. You can also take advantage of the free audio guide at the Viking Museum.

Hop on the thrilling ride, Ragfrid’s Saga, to get a real taste of a Viking’s daily life, told from the perspective of a Viking warrior’s wife. To cap it all off, grab a bite at Glöd, the museum’s modern Nordic restaurant, with sweeping views of the Stockholm harbor.

It was a very nice experience. The museum is quite interactive, it has audio guides and guided tours given by very good guides who interpret the Vikings of that time. Our guide was Alex, who gave the tour in English and was great, we highly recommend it. There is a lot to read and an acceptable number of objects for a private museum. Several hours are required if one wants to read each of the things that are presented. But the museum is traveled relatively quickly. The "Viking" life is approached with different approaches, which makes the experience suitable for all audiences.

Out of all the museums we went to in Stockholm, this was our favorite. It is covered with interesting facts about the Viking era, way of life, mythology, and so on. The Viking Ride is one more special touch of this museum, entertainment for all ages. Definitely deserves to be on your Stockholm To-Do List!

We didn't get to the Viking Museum the day before without prior booking, so we used GetYourGuide and were satisfied. The guests in front of us were all turned away, but we were able to enter with the QR codes. First you go to the first floor, where you can visit the Viking Museum. Then you go back down to the ride, which could be done a little better (smells, wind and water were missing and existed elsewhere decades ago), since you only see standing figures, where a story is being told by different speakers. Hence 4 stars.
