Sydney day trip FAQ
What transportation options are best for my day trip?
• Sydney day trips by train
New South Wales has a good rail network, though some smaller destinations may not be served by the train. When heading between cities without a car, the train is a great option. Some more rural destinations may require a combination of the train and bus.
• Sydney day trips by bus
Taking the bus is an excellent option for getting around Sydney and the extended area. An affordable and relatively quick way to travel, the bus can reach many destinations the train doesn’t. Guided bus tours are also very common and are a great way to manage your day trip from Sydney.
• Sydney day trips by car
Sydney and New South Wales offer some of the most breathtaking drives in the world, so taking a car for your trip is never a bad decision. With your own vehicle, you can take your time and make as many stops as you want. For some more rural locations, a car may be your quickest or only option.
Should I take a guided tour for my day trip?
Thinking about taking a guided tour for your day trip from Sydney? Tours allow you to enjoy your excursion without worrying about logistics and often provide you with more information and insight than you would ever get on your own.
What should I pack for my day trip?
Your packing list will depend heavily on what you have planned. Beach trips might warrant a towel and sunscreen, while some destinations may require good walking shoes. Besides what you wear, some tours will give you everything you need for the day.

What people are saying about Sydney
The trip was exactly as described. The different stops were timed out well. Enough time to explore or relax. Bus pickup was timely and was comfortable. Tony, our driver, was excellent. V added bonus to have him escort us around. He touched on historical and cultural topics, but kept it light and with humor! Highly recommend this trip for those wanting to see the Blue Mountains, take an aerial, ride a steep mountain train, hike through the rainforest easily, and then return home on a fast ferry. Great trip for the price! We are American, retired and it worked great for us.
Excellent experience, the tour is very complete and our guide 'Tony' was the best.
Great tour, well organised. Tour guide was very friendly, fun and knew a lot of trivia.
Steve was a wonderful guide. Highly recommend Anderson’s tours for the Blue Mountains.
Great trip! Just enough time in the Blue Mountains and Bauk was a great guide!
