It was very absorbing.

Excellent ... very "real" experience and we got so absorbed we didn't realise how long we had been there (around 3 hours)! My knowledge of what happened to convicts transported from the UK much better but so much more history here. Also good to visit Barracks first before others as it meant we had more context when we went to other museums. Well worth the visit.

Visit museums ..:

Interesting and convenient pass with which you can visit 4/5 interesting museums and other 6/7 of lesser importance, saving considerably on entrance costs, any queues at the entrance and you don't have to buy the ticket every time. Recommended
