The best time to travel for this excursion is between September/October and approximately April, when most birds can be admired. Unfortunately I was not aware of this, we were there in July and so there were few birds to see on the lake. Despite that we had a good time, from the lake you have a beautiful view over the mountains that is really worth it. The lunch at a local taverna was also really excellent. The guide did his very best to make us feel comfortable, very friendly man. All in all a nice day out.

Great day trip with Nikos! Really enjoyed our trip, we were a small group of just 3 so the experience was very personalised. The boat tour was amazing and we saw hundreds of birds up close like cormorants, pelicans and herrons. We also had a quick stop at a buffalo farm before having a lovely lunch locally with buffalo meat. Nikos was an amazing guide and stopped to let us take pictures anytime we wanted.

Thanks to our driver and tour guide Nikos, it was a very interesting day well spent at Kerkini Lake. Nikos was very informative about the natural habitat of the lake. We also enjoyed the coffee spot, the boat ride and the lunch at the tavern. Well done and thank you.
