Located in the heart of Copenhagen, Denmark is the 170-year-old Tivoli Gardens. It is said that this amusement park was built so that the kingdom’s citizens would think less about politics, and so it remains a wonderland to leave worries at the door.
This century-old wooden roller coaster is sometimes called Bjergbanen or “The Mountain Coaster,” and it is one of the oldest operating wooden roller coasters in the world.
A thrilling aerial view of charming Copenhagen from the world’s second tallest carousel—what more could you ask for?
You’ll find the longest single view panel in Europe right below the grand Concert Hall, home to 1,600 beautiful marine fish.
From cabaret to ballet, Tivoli has fantastic entertainment. Classical music lovers should visit at the end of the summer for Tivoli Festival and each fall there’s Music Week.
There’s no shortage of eateries here. Leave greasy fair food at home with Tivoli Gardens Copenhagen restaurants ranging form Italian to traditional Danish smørrebrød.
Depending on your interests—dinner, entertainment, rides—there’s a few inclusive options to choose from. Pay the Tivoli Gardens entrance fee alone or get a wristband for unlimited rides. Admission is free for children under eight.
Because the amusement park is located right next to the Copenhagen Central Station and a ten minute walk from City Hall, walking around the area is especially rewarding. Explore the beautiful city as it should be—walking along the canal admiring the Nordic architecture.
The experience wouldn’t be complete without knowing something about the place. The founder, Georg Carstensen, was able to get King Christian VIII on board with the Tivoli gardens amusement park by saying, “When the people are amusing themselves, they do not think about politics.”
My four year old grandson loved all the rides and the two year old all the twinkling lights which are spectacular The food hall was manic and impossible to find seats for us all. Tivoli park is definitely worth a visit
Thanks to Get YOUR guide we were able to use our tickets on the day after we had booked since we couldn’t make it on day 1. The experience was great. Have the tickets made entry so easy.
You cannot go to copenhagen without going to Tivoli Gardens. So glad we went as Christmas time. Was gorgeous. A great way to spend my birthday.
