Discover the Costa Brava Full-Day Tour from Barcelona

1. Discover the Costa Brava Full-Day Tour from Barcelona

Escape the hustle and bustle of Barcelona on a full-day tour of the Costa Brava. Travel north up the coastal highway to Blanes, the gateway to one of Europe’s most beautiful coastlines. Depart Barcelona early to see one of the few remaining coves still free from the crowds and big commercial developments along the coast, and to enjoy the beach on your own. Enjoy a secluded swim in the crystal clear waters. You have the option to stay on the beach for the next two hours, or leave the sand for another day and go to the famous botanical gardens. You may even find time to do both. Next, enjoy a typical Mediterranean lunch in a local restaurant. Your feast will start with a selection of traditional local dishes and a glass of Sangria, followed by a choice of main courses. All the dishes in this family owned restaurant are lovingly handmade and they have built a deserved reputation as one of the best kept secrets in town. Continue along the coast to Tossa de Mar, the last remaining preserved fortified town on the Costa Brava. Walk along cobblestone streets to the lighthouse for a stunning view of the coastline. Wander back down through the old town, and discover a maze of narrow streets lined with traditional whitewashed houses and shops.  Enjoy an hour to soak up the atmosphere and purchase souvenirs from the local craft shops. If you've not had enough of the water, you have one last chance to take a dip beneath this historic town, or even rent a kayak for a quick paddle under the cliffs.  After a couple of hours exploring Tossa de Mar you will head back to Barcelona.

Tossa de Mar: PADI Discovery Scuba Diving

3. Tossa de Mar: PADI Discovery Scuba Diving

The "try dive" is an activity recommended for beginners in scuba. The entire experience lasts three hours, the first 35 minutes of which will consist of a briefing on how the equipment works, how to communicate underwater using hand signals, and how the tour will go. Afterwards, get kitted out in the provided wetsuit and boots in the changing room. Once you are ready, hop in the van for just five minutes and prepare for the fun to start. Because the dive site is directly connected with the beach, you'll be enjoying a shore dive off Mar Menuda Beach.  When you get to the water, your guide will break up the activity step by step, and you'll have plenty of time to get used to each one at your own pace. Starting from the beach makes everything easier, especially for your ears as you'll have more time to get used to the pressure. Stay under the water for about an hour — this, of course, depends on you, because the more nervous you are, the faster you breathe, and the quicker you'll go through the air in your tank. During the dive, your guides will snap some photos/videos, so you will have a souvenir from the activity.

The trip of a lifetime! Exremely well organised and run with ideally sized groups for an intimate and optimum experience. A perfect blend of interesting history, group activity and alone time to wander and explore. Highy recommend Rod as a tour guide. He is incredibly chilled, friendly and does a great job of breaking the ice amongst the group. Before long, it feels like you've all known eachother for years which makes such a positive difference to the tour. He is also extremely knowledgeable and passionate about what he does. He will help give you a day you will never forget. Huge thanks to all the staff at Explore Catalonia. :) Kasia and Rich.
