Gaze out into the forest, keeping your eyes peeled for the massive creatures, alongside the other varied fauna that live in the region, from wild boar to deer and lynx. All the while, your guide will fill you in on fascinating information about the peculiarities of the region’s wildlife and ecosystem. Afterwards, you’ll head back to the meeting point in Brasov.

Gain fascinating insights into the lives of brown bears as you travel. Learn how their sharp sense of smell is vital in ensuring their survival and how they can grow to enormous sizes, with some males reaching up to 770 pounds (350 kgs).  Meet the ranger who will outline the rules you must follow in order to respect the bears' habitat and stay safe. Then walk about 20 minutes or drive with a jeep to the observatory where you can observe the bears as they go about their everyday life. Brasov: Brown Bear & Wildlife Watching

3. Brasov: Brown Bear & Wildlife Watching

Head deep in the forests surrounding Brasov. The vehicle that will pick you up and bring you to the forest will stop approximately 200-300 meters away from the observation hide. Walk for a short distance to the hide and then wait quietly, for the wildlife to come out. Everything is real and wild. Please note that there is no 100% guarantee that you will spot any wildlife, but statistically, there are very high chances to spot brown bears, and also lynx, foxes, wolves, and wild boars. Once the sun is setting and it is getting darker, start making your way back and return to Brasov, as you will not be able to see anything in the dark and walking through the forest during the night can be dangerous. The meeting time is set according to the dusk time and can, therefore, vary a little. The starting time for this adventure runs from 6 PM in mid-summer time to 3 PM in November, when the days have already become very short.

From Brasov: Wildlife Tracking in Putna Vrancea Natural Park

4. From Brasov: Wildlife Tracking in Putna Vrancea Natural Park

Early in the morning, your guide will pick you up from your accommodation in Brasov. The trails are unmarked and you'll pass through wild and remote places, looking for animal tracks and marks. Find out interesting information about the forest, the species of trees that can be found there and reach beautiful viewpoints overlooking the valley. You will stop from time to time and the ranger will explain the efforts behind conserving wild species of animals and sustainable tourism. What people are saying about Transylvania

We were picked up punctually from the agreed meeting point. The rangers were very knowledgeable and nice. On the way to the hut we met a young bear. The rangers handled the situation professionally. We received information about the bears and the rangers answered any questions. The view from the hut is better than expected. We saw a lot of foxes. Just before we were about to leave, another bear appeared. Although the time was already over, we stayed until the bear disappeared into the deep forest. It was an unforgettable experience!
