Rio: Christ the Redeemer Official Ticket by Cog Train

1. Rio: Christ the Redeemer Official Ticket by Cog Train

Go all the way up to the iconic statue of Christ the Redeemer by the Corcovado Train. The train rides through a railway inside Tijuca National Park, the largest urban forest in the world, making a unique view over Rio de Janeiro city. Enjoy an amazing ride on a train that takes you right up to the foot of the statue of The Christ, one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World and one of the most famous sights in Brazil. Besides admiring one of the most beautiful landscapes of the city, you will take a walk through Brazil's history. The Corcovado Railroad was the first electrified railroad in Brazil. Inaugurated in 1884 by D. Pedro II, it is older than Christ the Redeemer itself. In fact, it was the train that, during four consecutive years, transported pieces for monument’s construction. Your visit starts on the century-old electric locomotive, riding across the preserved Atlantic Forest, part of the Tijuca National Park. At the foot of the statue of Christ, you'll be able to take in the most beautiful view over the city, and see from above what makes Rio de Janeiro so special.

Took Uber from Sugar Loaf mountain ticket office on a busy Sunday afternoon, so arrived late at Trem do Corcovado for prepaid 12-3pm slot. Not a problem for the guys at the cog train ticket office who readily provided our tickets. They did warn us that visibility at the top might be poor or even zero owing to low-lying cloud. However, this was our only chance to visit so we boarded the train anyway. Very scenic climb up through thick jungle, so very glad we did not opt to hike up to the Christ. Train ride takes around 15 minutes as opposed to up to 3 hours on foot! As advised, the cloud was thick at the top but during the 2+ hours we stayed up there we saw the Christ statue and the 360 views down in bright sunshine as well. In fact, the rapidly-shifting cloud cover adds to the experience in my opinion as it adds an ethereal quality to what is a magical spot anyway.

It said arrive 20-30 mins ahead of time and because of us waiting for an Uber we didn’t arrive until 11:50ish (with a boarding time of 12-3pm) but we were able to show our vouchers and get on the next train that left at 12:20pm. Overall great experience! Also the ticket is round trip going up there and back down so hold on to your ticket!

Despite being a rainy day, I decided to go to the top. The company staff was nice and willing to change the ticket if I wished to. The weather turned bright for a few minutes when we reached the top - making it a great visit. The train ride was beautiful

Great experience. Definitely a good idea to buy in advance. Once you get to the ticket window they Just verify your information. (Identification). I would recommend this to see the views alone. Breathtaking views of the city!

Turns out the ticket was with expedited entry which wasn’t mentioned before. A most welcome surprise!
