Lake Garda: Cima Capi Via Ferrata

Lake Garda: Cima Capi Via Ferrata

Great via ferrata with wonderful views. This equipped path is very exposed and proceeds entirely offering glimpses of rare beauty of the lake and the Sarca Valley. At times there are breathtaking views on account of the vertical walls below. The excursion requires a lot of physical effort due to the vertical height gain involved. After reaching Cima Capi, you cross the old walkways, fortifications and tunnels built during the First World War. Don’t forget a torch to explore the fortifications on the way back.

Avio: Avio Castle

Avio: Avio Castle

The summit of a spur of Mount Vignola, which overlooks the Val Lagarina furrowed by the River Adige, has been adorned for more than 10 centuries by one of the most ancient and evocative castles in the Trentino region. It has belonged almost without interruption to the noble Castelbarco family, which during the Middle Ages transformed the fortress into a small feudal court, frequented by artists and intellectuals. The great scale of the complex – which is evident even at a distance thanks to the visual impact of the perimeter of crenellated walls and defensive towers that today encircle a lush garden of vines and cypresses – is counterbalanced by the attractiveness of the extraordinary frescoes that adorn the interiors of the Room of Love and the Keep, dating from the mid-14th century. While war and the military arts are celebrated in the former through delicate decorations and captivating frescoes, which offer an authentic encapsulation of the knightly customs of the time, in the latter the focus is very much on courtly love. In the renowned “Love Room”, amid darts that pierce the hearts of an elegantly dressed lady and a passionate knight, Love mounts an impetuous steed, infusing the entire space with a lively rhythm. The complex is reached via a route that meanders between the vineyards and skirts the southern edge. The wide downward slope that opens before the visitor is a sequence of terraces supported by stone walls, embellished by rows of vines and slender cypresses. Avio is a place of unexpected contrasts and is suitable even for youngsters who, by engaging with game-based trails, can have fun learning about the stories and characters who have brought the castle to life over the centuries.

Festival Ala Città di Musica

Festival Ala Città di Musica

The festival offers a program rich with internationally acclaimed artists, but above all, it aims to dedicate strong attention to the new generations, who are fundamental for our future. This year, even more than in the past, I Virtuosi Italiani wish to provide space and a prestigious stage for young but already established musicians. This is a true mission that has grown over the years, with the awareness. On July 14th, the festival will start with a special concert: an evening dedicated to the music of Gustav Mahler featuring the grand Symphony No. 1 "Titan" alongside the "Idyll of Sigurd. It’s a significant project that will involve various musicians. Then it will be the concert of ANDRÉ LISLEVAND, who notably plays an instrument perhaps less heard in Ala: the viola da gamba. He is a very talented young artist who is having an incredible career. Following that, there will be a concert featuring guest artist MASSIMO MERCELLI, the flautist who holds the most important dedications and collaborations with major composers worldwide. He has premiered works by Penderecki, Gubaidulina, Glass, Nyman, Bacalov, Galliano, Morricone, Sollima, Piovani, and many others. For the August 2nd event "Cinema Fantaisie," there is the possibility of combining it with film screenings paired with their soundtracks, though it depends on the availability of a large screen and outdoor projection equipment.
