    1. From Trieste: Postojna Cave & Predjama Castle

Postojna Cave, the queen of all caves, is the best-known cave in the world. It is also the greatest tourist attraction in Slovenia and one of the world’s largest karst (limestone) monuments. This is the only place in the world where the underground landscape can be traversed on an electric train and where you get to meet this underground kingdom’s most famous inhabitant – the proteus (olm) – up close. A fantastic web of tunnels, passages, galleries and halls, astonishing diversity of karst features, as well as easy access are certainly the main reasons for the popularity of the cave and a large number of visitors (more than 36 million of them in over 200 years). The Predjama Castle reigns over the surrounding area, not far from the Postojna Cave, in the idyllic village of Predjama. This picturesque, magnificent, defiant, mysterious, and impregnable castle has been perched up in the midd...

The cave experience was wonderful, but be prepared to climb many steps. Once the tour is done, there are 200 steps back up to the parking lot, so make sure you have comfortable shoes! Also, no photos are allowed, so don’t bother to bring a heavy camera. We also toured the Lipica stud farms. They let you pet the horses, unlike the tour in Vienna. There was also a show which our ticket did not cover. I don’t know if that would be an option for those interested, but it would extend your day by an hour or two.

Excellent Tour

Our driver, Nicola, was very accommodating. He picked us up at our hotel at the time he said he would be there. Our first stop was at the Castle where he left us on our own and told us not to rush. Then onto the Cave where he guided us to the English speaking tour. He met up with us after the tour. He did a great job.

Great experience! Bled lake is amazing and the tour is really well organized. The guide Dan was perfect. He explained everything about Ljubljana and Bled. I suggest this tour to everybody! So great!

Highly recommend! Very personalized and friendly service. We had a multi lingual group of people on our tour, it was no problem at all since our guide spoke various languages.
