Full description

Drive out into beautiful remote scenery in a custom-built 4x4 tour van. Most of the time this is a short drive to the surrounding coastal islands of Tromsø, or if needed a long drive into Finland. Even though the Aurora appears most nights, no forecast can predict what you are going to see, and it's all about taking chances. Upon reaching suitable skies, set up camp for the evening. Warm up around the roaring campfire, whilst getting to know fellow travelers. Enjoy a hearty homemade soup, cookies, and hot beverages. You will also be provided with everything you may need to survive in the arctic temperatures.

If you bring your own camera, you will be provided with the use of quality tripods. Learn from your guides how to get the most out of your photographs. All the photos the guides take of you and the Auroras will be shared with you the very next day at no extra charge.

    • Northern Lights Sunset: Autumn (end August - beginning September), Spring (end March - April). During these times it is possible to see the Aurora, but it may appear weaker, as the nights are brighter and shorter.
    • Moon Phase: Visiting around new moon will give you the darkest skies, causing the Northern Lights to appear stronger, and on clear nights filling the sky with stars. Whilst during full moon, the Aurora may appear fainter, but illuminates the landscapes which can make for very effect-full photographs.

Jeff was a fantastic enigmatic, entertaining and knowledgeable host. Our trip was something we will never forget. Despite not the most promising weather when we set off Jeff had a destination in mind that proved to be just right. We have some really wonderful photos to remind us of a very special evening. Being in a small group created a very special atmosphere. We benefited from thermal suits and fantastic hot vegan lentil soup, homemade by Hannah, to keep us warm whilst we waited by the fire on the beach near Sommeroy. A memory we will treasure for the rest of our lives.

JUST PERFECT!!! Amazing experience. Clothing, hand and feet warmers were provided by Jeff which made the cold much more bearable. Even though the night started a bit cloudy, Jeff drove us to different spots until we found the perfect one where he set on camp and a fire. During the night we were treated to some breathtaking northern lights

Very good experience which is very well organized (equipment against the cold at the top, delicious meals, hot drinks at will…) The guide is very attentive. It was not a good evening to see auroras but Nicolas made sure that we could observe them by extending the time of the visit and by changing the location several times. Very professional. I recommend!
