Full description

Be picked up from the city center of Tromsø, from which you will be taken to the wilderness center in Camp Tamok. Upon arrival at the camp, get set up with all required equipment for the hike through the snow. Enjoy the serenity of your surroundings as you hear the crunch of snow underfoot.

Arrive at the nature camp where the guide will help you chop wood, start a fire and cook some delicious lunch. With your belly filled you will be shown how you can survive the ice-cold arctic wilderness. Learn how to sleep, what to eat, and how to find your way home.

After the snowshoeing tour, your next excursion will begin with a visit to the majestic Tromsø Ice Domes. Set among high mountains in the beautiful Tamok Valley, Tromsø Ice Domes are built every year as the Polar Night approaches. At the Ice Domes, join a guided tour and learn about the construction process of the ice hotel and the impact the snow has on the survival of arctic animals. There will be time to walk around freely and ask questions to the experienced guide.

Admire the snow and ice art that reflects the unique bond between man and nature. A non-alcoholic ice shot at the stunning ice bar is complimentary. You will be able to purchase other drinks, which will be served in the ice restaurant or ice bar. You can also visit the small herd of reindeer located at the Ice Domes. Take some time to feed these cute animals, before heading back to Tromsø.

The tour was definitely a highlight of our trip. There was everything that was needed on site. Suits, shoes and a short and understandable introduction to the sled. The dogs were great and it was fun to do several laps on the sled in the sunshine and a very beautiful landscape. Unfortunately, the other sleds in front of us were always very slow, so we had to constantly step on the brakes, even though our dogs wanted to go faster. But overall a really nice experience.

Beautiful day, small group, super fun guide. It is not at all physical (you can ask you have it more physical depending on the group's feeling) and you get to see beautiful landscape. In the middle of the walk you will prepare a fire in the snow grill some sausages and have some warm drinks. Then you continue the walk stop by the dogs to say hi and go see the ice dome with a very nice tour on how they are built and the meaning of the drawing with a nice shot of vodka with berries or non alcoholic version.

We had an absolutely magical day with thanks to the organisation at camp Tamok and our excellent guide. We loved the snowshoeing which was a lot of fun, the right level of physical for us. Our guide gave us lots of information about the local animals, plants and life saving skills. We walked up the lower hills, through woods and across the frozen river. We thoroughly enjoyed building a fire and cooking dinner, it was a special time- the hot chocolate and sausages were gorgeous (veggie and meat). The ice domes were beautiful too, such intricate carvings and yummy shots! It was lovely to see the reindeer too. The hired kit (boots, suit) was clean and comfortable . An amazing day, thank you.
