Full description

Join in for this authentic combination tour to Camp Tamok and Tromsø Ice Domes, both located in the beautiful Tamok Valley, a 90-minute scenic drive away from the city center of Tromsø.

Upon arrival at the camp, get ready to set off on your snowmobiling adventure. You will be provided warm winter clothing and the necessary snowmobile gear. Go through the safety instructions and listen to a practical demonstration on how to drive a snowmobile. You will be driving in pairs, one driver and one passenger on each snowmobile, with the opportunity to switch places during the trip. The tour will take you past scenic mountains, through the snow-covered Finn valley, starting at 250 meters above sea level.

You will be on this snowmobiling adventure for approximately 2 hours, depending on the weather and snow conditions. After the snowmobiling activity, settle in for lunch before your tour continues with a guided tour at the Ice Domes.

Marvel at the incredible ice sculptures and snow carvings, learn about the construction process of the domes and the impact the snow has on all life in the Arctic, and have a non-alcoholic ice shot at the ice bar.

As part of this combination tour, there will be some free time to walk around by yourself and visit the reindeer that are herding next to the Ice Domes. Eventually, your daytime adventure has come to an end and it will be time to board the bus back to Tromsø city center.

+ nice guides, great scenery, great organization, good food, even saw huskies and reindeer. IceDomes was impressive, saw lots of great snow sculptures there - the snowmobile ride was a bit boring....20 snowmobiles in line, driving a mapped out route at 20mph and having to make a half hour stop...probably around the time to fill out

A fabulous day trip, a must-do if visiting the area. We came to Tromso for just two nights and this was our only full day so we were determined to make the most of it. This trip couldn’t have been better really, from the warm suits and boots for snowmobiling to the delicious and plentiful stew, bread and warm juice afterwards.. it was all perfect. Added bonus of getting to meet the husky puppies and take a sledge down a snow hill during the second part of the tour round the snow domes was brilliant. We had so much fun, it was hugely memorable and the guides were brilliant. My top tip would be to check the temperature as it can get as low as -30c and they still run the trip. At just -7 I was cold during the second half (once you give the snowsuit and boots back!) so make sure you really dress for the arctic. Two layers of socks including heat-holders was not enough!

Guided domes guide was really nice and entertaining. Restaurant staff were great too although it doesn’t seem like everyone is aware of all the programs happening at the camp. However, I would not recommend snowmobile with Camp Tomok as the lead guide is super unfriendly and spoils the experience. I would do the huskies sled ride at Camp Tomok instead and visit the ice domes for sure.
