We booked a full day tour with local guide Kaori and we loved the experience! She was very well prepared and had already discussed with us what we would like to visit before the tour started. She had made a good program so we could see a lot of Kyoto without having to rush from one site to another. We visited Kinkakuji temple (the Golden pavilion), Arashiyama Bamboo Forest, Fushimi Inari shrine !Thousands of Shinto gates) and Gion where Kaori gave us extra information on Japanese history and tradition. At noon we had lunch in a traditional Japanese restaurant, sitting on the floor. Very nice experience and very good choice of her! At the end of tour she gave us some tips on other things to do/visit in Kyoto and even arranged a taxi for us. We were very happy to have booked this tour and would like to thank Kaori again for the wonderfull experience!

After an already-wonderful tour of Kyoto’s Imperial gardens and Nijo Castle, knowing that Mardi was going to be our guide again meant that this was going to be another incredible trip. Once again, she actively listened and started to tweak the tour to our preferences: we skipped one of the temples in order to relax and grab some matcha soba at one of the oldest teahouses in the world, calmly overlooking a river that once provided trade access to the vivid green bounties of Uji. At Byodo-in Temple, the museum focused on Buddhist spirituality, and the powerful imagery and ancient artefacts combined with Mardi’s quiet yet enthusiastic storytelling made for a surreal experience. Once again, thanks Kevin and Mardi for fantastic service from start to finish.

Our experience with this system was very good, since we travel as a family and we like to take private tours to be able to go at our own pace. Our guide in Kyoto was AKIKO, an excellent person, very nice, with enough patience to wait for us, help us and answer all our questions. He showed us several very interesting places, he was even with us more than the scheduled time, despite having a family member in the hospital, which we greatly appreciated and we hope he has recovered. We loved the Gion neighborhood and were lucky enough to see some Geykos and Mayko. Quite a fabulous experience!!! Thank you very much Akiko!!

A beautiful temple, and kind staff. My monk teacher and I were able to communicate though Google translate.
