Full description
The vineyards of the Prosecco region, just an hour’s drive from Venice, spread out in front of you as you travel along country roads. On this full-day tour, the first winery you’ll visit is a family business, located near Conegliano. Tour the cellars, and see the wine press and fermentation room before enjoy a number of glasses of Prosecco. Later in the morning, stop at a waterfall beside an old mill in Refrontolo. As you continue your drive, enjoy the beauty of the hills covered in Prosecco grapes. There will be a number of stops before lunch so you can get out and take a walk through the vineyards. Lunch will be at a traditional trattoria, overlooking vineyards, where you’ll have a choice of dishes from the Veneto region. Not far from the town of Valdobbiadene you’ll stop to visit the second winery of the tour, where an expert will explain the steps of the wine-making process, from picking the grapes to bottling. Enjoy hearing how this popular sparkling white wine is actually made.

Our guide, Miriam, was extremely knowledgeable about the prosecco winemaking process, the region, and wine in general. She took us to two wineries on prosecco road - one in Refrontolo and another in Valdobbiadene - both very beautiful regions in mountain foothills. On top of that, our lunch stop was a castle just north of the region, which had an amazing restaurant, great drink options, and incredible views of the town below. We highly recommend this tour for couples or groups of friends.

We stayed in Venice near the Realto bridge, it took about 10 minutes by Vaporetti (public water bus) to the bus station on the island where we easily met our guide. She drove us about an hour to our first winery which was an agritourist location. We walked the hills through the grape wines, tasted grapes and saw the farm animals. All along our guide was teaching us about the locations we passed and the Prosecco. Then we sat on a gorgeous patio and tasted 3 bottles of Prosecco with a snack. As we left we drove a short way to an old water mill for viewing, then she dropped us for lunch at the top of a hill overlooking grape vine farms. Lastly we went to a winery in a small town where we were walked through the wine making process by a wine expert and again tasted multiple Prosecco’s. And then our guide saw us safely back on the island of Venice. Calm, beautiful and lovely day.
