Your timing needs to be considered. Apparently at this time of the year (late September) San Marco square is liable to flooding (around 11.30 am) and so suddenly the “skip the line” entrance was closed. By the time it was relocated there was a long very long “skip the line”. The square can be impassible at these times

At the beginning you get a piece of paper with a QR code, which is required at the entrance and later again for the area above. In front of the entrance, the first of the group noticed that he no longer had the note. Then the 2nd person in front of the access to the upper area. The two could therefore no longer follow the tour. If you can do that, the tour is very well done. Acoustically you can understand everything despite the noise level around you and there is a lot of interesting information, both in general and on specific murals etc.

Absolutely to recommend. The highly interesting tour took place in German in a small group of 8 people. The audio system was helpful but would not be essential. I can't imagine a better tour guide than Luigina (Venetian historian with perfect knowledge of German). According to organizer Very Viva Venice, all tours are led by well-trained people (no students or anything). Even our 13 year old daughter loved it.
