This was an excellent way of getting to see both Venice and neighbouring islands. We originally booked a three island boat tour also but cancelled after seeing how easy it was to use the waterbus which meant that we could tour the islands in our own time. We got a 2 day ticket and I had read other reviews thankfully which made it clear that the tickets are midnight to midnight so doesn’t matter what time you actually activate it you will have the remainder of that day and the following day to use them.

Needed more info before buying tickets

We bought 2 day passes for Thursday & Friday, but they actually stated they were valid for 1 day. We checked that we could use them for the 2 days at the information desk in the palace & whilst they were confused by the contradiction (they took a photo which they said they would provide feedback to you direct), they confirmed they would be valid. However, we discovered on the Friday that they didn’t cover access to the gardens on that day, so we had to buy additional tickets for that part. There was also a National strike on the Thursday & no one knew if the palace & gardens would open that day, but luckily they did.

For 24 € for two we were able to go around Venice by boat from the Rialto. By hurrying and taking another line which gave us a nice ride. When you see the cost of half an hour of gondola (80€) and to do the same thing… for us it's perfect.
