The ships depart just a few minutes' walk from St. Stephen's Cathedral in the city center. On board, the crew welcomes you. The ships are beautiful restaurant ships that sail both the Vienna Danube Canal and the great Danube. During the tour you will pass through two locks, a process that takes about 20 minutes each time. The tours are carried out with both the French designed MS Vindobona, which is now one of the sights of Vienna (departure 11:30 and 15:00) and the MS Wien, which has a large outdoor deck (departure 10:30 and 14:00). As you wish, you can also enjoy premium coffee from Julius Meinl or typical Austrian pastries, but neither of these are included in the price and have to be paid additionally. The round trip takes about 3.5 hours, returning to your starting point at the conclusion of the tour. Simply relax by the water and enjoy your stay aboard.

Vienna: Food, Coffee, and Market Discovery Tour

9. Vienna: Food, Coffee, and Market Discovery Tour

You begin your Vienna tour on one of the most famous and attractive shopping streets in the city: The Graben. Home of the court jeweller Heldwein, and the famous porcelain factory of Augarten, the area is littered with imperial architecture, opulent coffee shops, and first-rate eateries. It would be rude not to offer you a coffee before getting started properly, so after your brief stroll, you will stop for a quick coffee and a snack. However, this won't be at one of the famous cafes, because only tourists go there. Instead you will head to one of the few cafes that locals still visit — a proper and still functioning Kulturcafe. To Nasch means "to nibble" and that is exactly what you can do at the Naschmarkt, easily one of Europe’s best open-air markets. It is a mile long and showcases over 120 food stalls and some delectable restaurants that are cooking up some of the best food in the city. Here, you will find the most diverse array of fruits, vegetables, and delicacies that are available in Vienna from all over the world.  While the Naschmarkt is a must-see, any local will tell you that they rarely pay it a visit, unless they fancy fighting out with tourists for the vendor’s attention. Instead, every local has their own market that they like to visit. These may not be as big as the Naschmarkt, but they are certainly more lively and less touristy. To that end, you will be whisked away from the Naschmarkt to a real functioning Viennese market. Whether that be the trendy Brunnenmarkt in the 16th district with its cafes and creativity, the lively Viktor–Adler–Markt in the traditionally working class 10th district, or even the peaceful farmers market at Karmeliterplatz in the 2nd district, will depend on the day and the guide. But don’t be afraid to ask for directions to the others: there is never enough time in a day, let alone in a tour to visit everything. Irrelevant of the market, one thing that can be guaranteed is that there will be food. Your guides will introduce you to some Viennese guilty pleasures, sweet and savory, and life on the streets that no guide book would ever mention. Pausing to take in Wurstelstand life offers you the chance to taste Austrian’s favorite dish (hint: it’s not schnitzel), while grabbing a cheeky beer or spritzer (soft drinks are available) that will help you re-hydrate after the buzz of the markets. Along the way you will sink into the famed Viennese coffee culture. Coffeehouses have played a very important role in shaping the culture of the city over the centuries, with the first cup being brewed all the way back in 1683. The Austrian Inventory of Cultural Heritage describes the coffeehouses as places “where time and space are consumed, but only the coffee is found on the bill".

Vienna: Schlumberger Wine Cellar Guided or Self-Guided Tour

10. Vienna: Schlumberger Wine Cellar Guided or Self-Guided Tour

Enjoy a stroll through the impressive labyrinth of cellar vaults constructed and designed by the engineering genius of Carl Ritter von Ghega. The cellars have a magical flair and are filled with countless bottles of wine. Discover the traditional method of sparkling winemaking in the unique ambiance of Austria’s oldest and biggest sparkling wine cellar. Immerse yourself into the world of sparkling wine and experience a fascinating journey from the grape to the glass. The 60-minute audio tour of the Schlumberger Wine Cellar provides information on the origin of sparkling wine and champagne making and explains how the sparkle is born inside the bottle. Try to “hand-riddle” the bottles on the wooden sloping racks and unravel the secret behind disgorging and dosage. Discover the cellar and the history of Schlumberger which dates back to 1842. After the tour, you have the opportunity to enjoy one of the three tasting sets of either sparkling wines, rosé wines, or a mix. Authentic Viennese food experience that was equal parts educational, entertaining and DELICIOUS! Our guides Wolfy and Maxine were fantastic and very knowledgeable about Vienna food, history, and culture. I would highly recommend this tour and it’s a great value for the money because all the food and drinks are included. I’m so glad I didn’t waste my money on a Naschmarkt tour and opted for this. Truly one of the highlights.

We had an incredible experience with Haas & Haas, learning about the history of wine making in Vienna and sampling their wine to. Bernie was very knowledgeable and made sure the experience was fantastic. The shop itself was also brilliant for gifts/treats after the experience! Would definitely do again when in Vienna!

It was a perfect addition to our Christmas Day plans. My family enjoyed seeing all the people wave back at us as we traveled around Vienna.

It was so amazing and magical. My wife and I did this for our 3rd anniversary in Vienna and it could not have been better. 10/10.

Very easy guide to use helps you get the best of your stay.!!!
