Experience the stunning beauty of Wachau Valley and sample its white wines on a guided day trip from Vienna. Hop on a river cruise down the Danube from Spitz to Melk. Visit Melk Abbey and Weissenkirchen. Stop at a family-run tavern in Dürnstein to taste liqueurs, wines, and local delicacies.

Start the trip from Vienna and travel in a van through narrow countryside roads into the heart of the Wachau Valley. Accompanied by your driver/guide, learn about wine-making and the fascinating history and culture of the region.   Taste a wide variety of the valley’s dry and fruity whites and sample other local delicacies such as apricot jams and liqueurs. In summer, take a boat ride on the Danube River from Spitz to Melk to soak up the beauty of the Wachau Valley. During the winter months, take a guided tour of the beautiful Melk Abbey. What a wonderful time we had. Santiago was an excellent guide, and provided guidance in both English and Spanish for our group as needed. Plus, he was super knowledgeable of all the wines, the area, and was just fun to chat with about life during the can ride and our group lunch break. As sellers of Domaine Wachau wines at our Restaurant in America, it was exciting to meet the producers in person and get a taste of all the different wines. Plus, getting the contrast with the slightly larger producer and the smaller, family growers was really exciting. A really really hot day made for some lovely white wine. The valley was gorgeous and the stop in Durnstein was super cute and just the right amount of time. They have several different liquor and chocolate sellers so you can get unlimited free samples by hopping from shop to shop. The lunch had great vegetarian options for us, the river cruise was lovely and scenic, and we got a quick pick in Melk before heading home. Thanks Santiago!!!

Lovely day out with a great guide in Thomas, who was relaxed and genuine, with good knowledge both locally and about wine. Some ways to drive to the valley of course but the way there was pleasant with nice talks and explanations of the area, and several stops throughout the day. Wine tastings (two) were nice and a bit adjusted according to our taste, and generous in both glass sizes and numbers. Easy to buy wines if you wanted but no problem if not. A calm (perhaps a bit slow) boat ride with nice strudel and some coffee (not included). Lunch stop was good value for money. Overall just what we wanted and a great way to spend a day in Wachay Valley!

Yolo was great! Yes that is his name! He was very informative from the start of the tour. He even changed the pick up location the day before in concern of protestors the day of the tour. Yolo loves the Wachua Valley as they do him. Knows his way around the valley and the really good wines. Great tour!
