Full description
A cruise through Vienna with a fitting culinary combination. The ticket includes a boat trip down the Danube and through Vienna. Start the tour at Schwedenplatz and redeem your voucher at the Vienna/City boat station at the DDSG Blue Danube. The ships depart just a few minutes' walk from St. Stephen's Cathedral in the city center. On board, the crew welcomes you. The ships are beautiful restaurant ships that sail both the Vienna Danube Canal and the great Danube. During the tour you will pass through two locks, a process that takes about 20 minutes each time. The tours are carried out with both the French designed MS Vindobona, which is now one of the sights of Vienna (departure 11:30 and 15:00) and the MS Wien, which has a large outdoor deck (departure 10:30 and 14:00). Both ships are air conditioned. The food is freshly prepared on board, the Schnitzel of course tapped, breaded and baked in butter lard. As you wish, you can also enjoy premium coffee from Julius Meinl or typical Austrian pastries, but neither of these are included in the price and have to be paid additionally. The round trip takes about 3.5 hours, returning to your starting point at the conclusion of the tour. Simply relax by the water and enjoy your stay aboard.

The boat itself is very good, and quite comfortable. You can climb on the roof to have an excellent view of the surroundings. We also took lunch, the Wiener Schnizel, which was quite good also. Regarding the tour itself, it goes from the boarding platform through a canal to the Danube itself, passing through residential and industrial areas and some scenery, then passing through two locks, which for me was quite interesting never having been in one before. It the returns to the canal from higher up the river and returns to the landing platform. It was relaxing but, in my opinion, there wasn't really that much to see. I was expecting more scenery and historical buildings.

The navigation was very interesting, even the weather was nice. Star deduction- the waiters on board were very unfriendly. We had a voucher for a schnitzel, we ordered fruit juices, water and apple strudel, and they simply forgot about us. Well, it can happen, but when we called the cellar, he cheekily yelled -What is it?- from afar. We were amazed. Nevertheless, we would recommend it to others, as we assume that everyone can have a bad day.

I was there with a group of 10 people. The round trip is a very nice trip, you can see Vienna from the water. Sights are also announced through loudspeakers. If you are a larger group, it is advisable to be there a little earlier in order to get a shared seat/table. Schnitzel was very good, the parsley potatoes were slightly overcooked. Unfortunately no flexibility in the choice of side dishes (e.g. fries instead of potatoes). The waiters tried hard and were friendly, but unfortunately understaffed (2 for the whole ship!) so that orders were sometimes lost or you had to wait longer. Overall a nice trip.
