“Prazer do Mar” translates to Pleasure of the Sea. The name emphasises the “core business” of our company, created in Madeira in 2004. The initial goal was to provide a costal trip to observe the morphological beauty of our coast. In the same year our first catamaran, “Sea Pleasure“, began its activity. Until the end of 2007 there weren’t many changes, and then there was a significant structural change. In 2008 the corporate structure was altered. From the initial three business partners only José Luis Abreu remains. Two others joined the partnership: Manuel Brasão and Carlos Gouveia. The company gains new dynamism and plans are made for its growth. In that same year a new catamaran was bought: “Sea The Best” increasing the total places available to168 pax, which was in response to the growing number of tourists interested in discovering Madeira from the sea. In 2011, new facilities are added in addition to the kiosk located in the vicinity of the city’s pier. This new sales point is located in the shopping centre, ‘ Galerias de São Lourenço.’. In 2013, besides these two spots, the new central offices are opened in the Funchal Marina, consisting of working and meeting rooms, as well as a service desk, that becomes the central “check-in” for the daily trips that run along the south coast of Funchal. Since 2013 the commercial brand VMT Madeira – Viagens Marítimo-Turísticos (Madeiran Touristic sea trips) was launched, in order to make it easier to identify our company. This brand is growing constantly. Over the last decade the company has had a sustainable growth that led to the investment in yet another new catamaran, with a bigger capacity than the first two combined. ‘Sea Nature’ is a double-decker catamaran, re-built in 2014 in Lagos, Algarve, with capacity for 220 people. It opens up the possibility of introducing some interesting new products to the market. In the first 10 years of activity we are proud to have transported more than 200.000 clients, and our ambition is to provide the best possible experience to everyone that visits us.
