Be sure to check in 25 minutes prior to departure at the Vancouver Harbour Floatplane Centre and take in the organized commotion of the busy working harbor. Located right along Vancouver’s iconic seawall, the terminal features a passenger lounge with panoramic views of Stanley Park and the North Shore mountains, a gift shop, and the fully licensed Cockpit Café. Join a fun and educational day in the backcountry adjacent to Whistler Blackcomb. Among the many skills you will be introduced to are basic avalanche rescue, terrain analysis, track setting, uphill and downhill skiing technique, route finding, tree skiing and trip planning. Spend a full day skiing and riding while covering uphill and downhill skills in powder, equipment use and safety awareness. There is no better place in the world to learn backcountry skiing than Whistler and your experienced guides will ensure you have an enjoyable and educational day. This is a must-do tour to complete your stay in Whistler. This tour is geared for beginner skiers or snowboarders looking at getting into backcountry travel. Participants must be comfortable and confident in intermediate terrain [blue runs] in a variety of snow conditions. Groups can expect 2 – 4 runs for the day, depending on ability and fitness level. The guide will get everyone to sign a waiver and perform a gear check before a trip briefing on safety and the day’s objectives. You will cover the following throughout your day: Equipment setup boots, skins and ski’s/board for touring Trailhead procedures with transceiver Companion rescue review How to efficiently walk up hill in touring mode Terrain choice and limitations depending on hazards Uphill terrain selection and track-setting: Safe terrain selection and efficient uptrack How to evaluate a slope Maintain situational awareness Downhill safe terrain choice and technique: Use Slope Avlauator to choose a run appropriate to conditions. Efficient transition from touring to skiing mode. Care of skins, transition routine. How to best ski the run Where and when to regroup safely The day will finish at approximately 4:30pm with a debrief at the Escape Route Alpine Demo Centre. Day 1: Seattle to Kamloops Kamloops British Columbia is abundant with stunning scenery and great wildlife . Cougars, bears, elk, and more inhabit the Thomson River Valley. Stop for a short walk and picnic at Bridal Veil Falls Provincial Park.  Day 2: Yoho National Park Explore trails around the magnificent Emerald Lake or simply relax in the lakeshore cafe and enjoy the views. Enjoy short walks, views of Bow Glacier and Peyto lake, take an optional helicopter flight over the Columbia Icefield, or strap on some crampons and step out onto the Athabasca glacier. Day 5: Jasper National Park Enjoy Canada's largest National Park, Jasper. Marvel at the snowcapped summits and beautiful lakes in this true wild mountain wilderness. Jasper offers an abundance of wildlife sightings, jagged mountain peaks, alpine lakes and numerous hiking and biking opportunities. Choose to visit Miette hot springs, or hike/bike the famous trails around stunning lakeshores. After a full day of activities, follow the Yellowhead Highway, hugging the mighty North Thompson River to your night stop of Cleawater BC. Day 6: Whistler and Vancouver On to the alpine resort of Whistler, nestled at the base of Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains. Today is yours to explore all that Whistler has to offer. Enjoy spectacular scenery and incredible photo opportunities as you explore this ski town, home of the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics. Drive the spectacular Sea to Sky highway for your evening in Vancouver. Day 7: Vancouver and Seattle This morning, tour Vancouver, including the waterfront, Gas lamp district, Chinatown, and Stanley Park. Head to Seattle for a your evening downtown or drop off at the departure hotel.

Absolutely brilliant trip. Lesley our tour guide was funny and told us lots of useful information and history of Vancouver as we were travelling. The coach was comfortable and we had a few coffee breaks on the way which all had toilet facilities. We would definitely recommend
