Aurora Borealis provides an astonishing spectacle in these areas, especially during winter. This “Aurora Hunting” tour will take you to numerous vantage points, aiming for a perfect view of the polar lights. Hot tea pops and snacks will be provided for you during this 4-hour tour. If desired, you will receive an introduction to Aurora photography and its beautiful subtleties so that you can take some unforgettable memories of your encounter with the northern lights (tripod required). You'll be picked up from the meeting point at 10:30 PM, leaving the city’s light-polluted sky behind and heading towards the northern lights. Important information

Know before you go

  •  If the weather conditions do not allow you to see the Northern Lights, you can switch the date of your tour to the next available Aurora Hunting tour
  • Please bring your tripod if you want to get some awesome shots of the Northern lights
  • Please note that while the northern lights are always in the night sky, their intensity is dependent on solar activity. Skies free from clouds are necessary to catch a perfect view of the mystical northern lights. Thus, a successful Aurora view cannot be guaranteed.
  • Despite climate change, temperatures in the Canadian North can drop to -30C and colder. Choose adequate clothing (layers) and make sure to protect the uncovered parts of your body, especially your hands and face, when photographing.
  • Rental gear is optionally available.

Our guide, Toby, was very informative and engaging. Due to weather, he moved our appointment to give us a chance at seeing the lights. Even though we did not see them with our eyes (only captured on camera), I highly recommend this trip. We walked on a frozen lake, watched a meteor shower, toasted marshmallows in -31C, and learned a lot about the Yukon Territory. The tour van/bus was warm and comfortable, and light snacks were provided.

It was a unique experience. Tibias made every effort so that we could see the auroras, it is best that you do not stay in one place, you are hunting and looking for the best place to see and photograph them. If you don't know anything about the auroras Tobias explains everything and makes you feel confident. Excellent guide and a unique experience. I highly recommend it.
