Take a short walk at Nourlangie (Burrungkuy), suitable for all levels of fitness, to reach the indigenous Rock Art sites. Hear about the stories of Narmagon, the Lightning Man. If you are up to a bit of exercise, a lookout over the Arnhem Land escarpment invites you to a spectacular view. Take a short break before going on a 1.5-hour cruise on the Yellow Water Billabong. Keep your eyes pierced to spot saltwater crocodiles, brolgas, black neck storks, and jacanas—just some of the plentiful birdlife in the area. Pick up at 6.00 AM from your accommodation in Darwin urban area. It is a private tour, not sharing the car with strangers. Mattia will welcome you with a Barista coffee or tea ready in the car we will stop for Breakfast in Fogg Dam. Fogg Dam is one of the most accessible places in the Northern Territory (NT) to experience spectacular wetlands and wildlife throughout the year. If you're a keen bird watcher, there are often a variety of birds around the dam wall. It is also a haven for water pythons, freshwater turtles and other wildlife. Fogg Dam has one of the world's highest biomass of predator (water pythons) to prey (dusky rats) ratio. After breakfast we are back in the car for 20 minutes, and we drive to the Corroboree tavern, the hectic Pub of the Marrkai region, a real territorian Place. We can use the toilets and have a look at their Buffalo and Croc pets. We still have 30 minutes drive before getting to our special shortcut to Cooinda, the Old Jim Jim road. It is a 4wd dirt road, of around 100km that cuts through the middle of the park, parallel to the northern main road. Starting out near the Alligator River crossing (good place to croc watch) the Old Jim Jim Road gets straight into the red dirt, weaving through the dry scrubland littered with an array of palms, cycads and savannah bushland. This road has remote campsites and long waterholes that are popular with serious campers and fishes. There are a couple of river crossings, but these generally only run after the Wet season. By 11.30 we get to Yellow Water for your scenic cruise. Enjoy a one and a half hour wildlife cruise on Yellow Water, a lush tropical billabong located in Kakadu National Park. This tranquil wetland is home to a diversity of flora and fauna. Watch as native birds rest among waterlilies, see saltwater crocodiles, wild horses and wallabies in their natural habitats and discover why this unspoiled wilderness is a World Heritage listed landmark. At 1.00 PM Mattia Will pick you up from the Yellow water, going to the Warrandjan culture centre for toilet stop and a quick look to the culture centre. The Anbanbang billabong for Lunch. It's a great opportunity to experience the sights and sounds of the billabong, and see the array of birdlife that calls this area home. This is one of Kakadu's most attractive billabongs. We will visit the Anbanbang Main gallery in Nourlangie. The walls of the Burrungkuy (Nourlangie) rock art site, in World Heritage-listed Kakadu National Park, have served as a shelter and canvas for thousands of years. You can see famous paintings such as Namarrgon and Lightning Man. It is an easy walk of around 20 minutes. We still have the last Kakadu gem to visit, the Ubirr rock art and lookout. The walk up the lookout is degree 3/5, around 10 mintues of distance. Here one of the most beutiful lookouts of the Kakadu NP. Leaving late afternoon we will head to humpty Doo (2.5 hours) for a Pub dinner at the historical tavern Humpty Doo Hotel.

Day 1 Journey through Ancient Rock Art Galleries Starting the day being picked up from your accommodation in Darwin, we will first visit Fogg Dam Conservation Reserve. A beautiful spot with a variety of monsoon and floodplain habitats to view. From here we will stop off for lunch before heading to our next destination, Ubirr. This unique rock art gallery is one of Kakadu's most famous spots. Ubirr rock art is considered some of the best in the world, featuring x-ray painting and Important food animals. The top of Ubirr features 360 degree views across floodplains. Finishing the day with the Guluyambi cultural cruise. Disembark on the Arnhem Land side of the river and be treated to a display of traditional hunting and gathering implements before heading back down stream. We will then stop off at the Injalak Art Border Store where you are able view and purchase traditional art. Arriving at your accommodation your guide will check you into your rooms where you will be on your own time for dinner. Day 2 Hike and Explore Kakadu! Begin the day with a delicious breakfast before embarking on our first activity of the morning, a beautiful hike through the bush (3.4 km return) taking us to Nanguluwurr rock art site. This hidden gem is a magical place where you can see powerful depictions of ancestral spirits, animals, and the fascinating early depiction of contact between Aboriginal people and Europeans in the form of a two-masted sailing ship with anchor chain. Followed by a hot lunch at Anbangbang billabong before we head to our next location for the day, Burrungkuy. This rock art gallery is a must visit spot within Kakadu. From its rich history painted on the sandstone walls to the shaded rock shelters that give us a peek into what the life of the Bininj people might have been like. Our final stop of today is a short hike to Nawurlandja lookout which offers world-class views across Anbangbang Billabong to Burrungkuy (Nourlangie Rock) and the Arnhem Land escarpment. Arriving back at your accommodation you are once again on your own time for dinner. Day 3 Culture and Wildlife Experience Embark on the famous Yellow Water Billabong boat cruise. This 2 hour cruise is the perfect opportunity to view some of the Northern Territories wild and unique wildlife. This tour is fully guided and it is recommended you bring along a camera. Our next stop Warrajan Cultural Centre. Developed by the Aboriginal traditional owners of Kakadu. The displays include artefacts that illustrate the stories that the traditional owners wish to share with visitors. The Centre mixes contemporary techniques – such as videos – to cover various subjects, ranging from personal histories to bush tucker. We will then sit down to a hot lunch before beginning our journey back to Darwin city with a quick stop at the Marrawuddi Arts and Culture centre where you will be able to view and purchase traditional art created by the Bininj people.

It’s a long day but worth every minute. Our guide was very helpful and knowledgeable. The Yellow Waters cruise was the highlight of the day with so much wildlife to see and a guide who found a great variety for us. Not to be missed and easy to understand the world heritage listing.

Spectacular scenic flight over the 3 rivers, stone area, arch, disused uranium mine and indigenous community; informative and interesting cruise on yellow river and lagoon, tasty lunch, great stop at the cultural centre and flight home. Totally memorable and worthwhile experience
